Im looking at a Special Weapons Inc. MP5SD Receiver for $1700, supposedly it runs perfectly fine and its marked Special Weapons Inc. Spring Lake, MI

is this a good price for a SW receiver? I heard some bad things about SW

I wouldn't. Wait for the Omega SD upper to come back in stock at Atlantic, at least get the Bailey family's improved line of guns and customer service if you're trying to do an SD on the cheap.

IIRC the SW MP5SD had a weird barrel that only worked with a SW can.

Not worth it. Stigma of the "SW" name will always be there. For a few $$$ more, could have a SD receiver rolled, welded etc.

I'll just throw myself on top of the dogpile.

If that receiver were priced HALF of that it would be a deal, but as it stands it is priced almost the same as the current new Omega gun which -should- be the superior choice.

Plus SW guns have a very deserved bad reputation. Not all of them are bad, but in today's crowded market full of excellent choices there is no reason to roll the dice and buy a used SW gun unless it is a complete and total steal of a deal.

My SW MP5SD barreled receiver runs with my post sample HK MP5SD can and has never had a malfunction of any kind.

There are a lot of internet experts out there with zero personal experience.

It's $49 more for the Omega SD barreled receiver from Atlantic.

Maybe I missed it- but keep in mind the Atlantic option also comes with BCG- add a trigger pack and suppressor and you're off and running until the Form 1 clears

That is about 2x what I paid for mine. With that said, I wish I had bought 100. It runs 100% with my Post-86 trigger pack, and every SD silencer I have tried fits perfectly - KAC, TPM, B&T.

Yeah $1700 if Hillary won

Since Trump won, $1000

Exactly. And it comes with support from Atlantic, which is a huge bonus in my book.

Negative, you need a can or a fake can that blocks the ports. Waste of $100 in my opinion, but maybe I'm just too patient for my own good.
