| I'm taking delivery of a new to me HK 91 tomorrow. Wooo HOOO!! Can anyone recommend an ammo that would work great in this rifle? I know brass cased/copper jacket is best. Any specific loads/mfgs/bullet weights etc I should pick up? |

Steel case works fine as well. Don't be afraid to use it. However while I have not had issues some report the barrel flutes getting gummed up using lacquer coated cases after a lot of use. I've shot plenty of Poly coated Wolf through my 308s with no avail. However anything should be fine. I have a lot of ZQI and PPU M80 ball ammo which I expect no issues with. I've used Federal XM80c and German DAG surplus with excellent results previously. SG Ammo has some good solid prices on 308/762 right now |
| I found a link to some some affordable ZQI ammo that I think I'll try.ZQ |

I have shot a bunch of ZQI through my PTR and have to say the brass is MUCH softer then the mil-surp stuff. The ZQI brass very noticeably forms right into the flutes while ammo like SB Spanish and other surplus barely shows an imprint.
Steel cased ammo works just fine in mine as well. |

My AR10 hates ZQI as it was shooting a legitimate 10 MOA pattern. Tried some winchester M80 with the same rifle and the group size dropped to 2 MOA, That said, my M14 clone shoots the ZQI decently, so, go figure. So, based on the PSA pricing on winchester M80 right now, i'd stock up on that over ZQI. PPU is decent too, but I haven't run a whole lot of that. |
