Have you shot it when it was his? Any issues? Sounds like a good deal so far as the HK bolthead and carrier are nice to have ( but may have been added to fix the usual problems with Coharie/SW guns.
I think DJF has built some using coharie receivers but I'm not sure if he ever built any on the SW receivers. Idk. If you have failures, Also check the extractor to see if it has much movement. If it does, a new extractor spring should solve a lot of first time issues. |

That was a smoking deal IMO, until I saw the pictures.
DJ makes fantastic weapons, but this may be more trouble than its worth depending on what you want to do with it. First off, it's not an mp5 clone. It's more like an HK94 clone. It has the long 16 inch barrel, no paddle mag release, three-lug, etc. If you want it to SBR it and want it to have the paddle release and the three lug, you'd best be served (IMO) to contact DJ and get a quote for having that work done to this gun. If it's going to run a few hundred to do so, it may not be such a screaming deal after all. For the record, I purchased a Getz DF89 pistol off the EE with a case, a German surplus a3 stock, 7-8 30 round mags (including 2 factory HK), extra parts, and a factory HK MP5 manual. I got all of that for $2000. Point being, this is a great price. But only if it's what you want and/or you can get it made how you want it by DJ for a reasonable price. Otherwise, might as well just buy one new from him w/ the warranty or wait for another deal to show up on the boards. |

Thanks everyone for the great info and advice! I ended up purchasing the rifle from my buddy for $1150 and I'll be installing the paddle release and a Form 1 will be filed. I'll be threading it for the 1/2 x 28 version 3 lug adapter that HK Parts sells.
As a side note, the 94 doesn't like 115 gr but cycles 124 and 147 great. Is it recommend to just leave as it and only purchase 124 and up or are there some tricks to getting it to run 115 well? Thank you! |

Hotter 115gr loads will probably work, try Sellier & Bellot 115gr if you can find some. Most MP5/HK94 clones won't run well with the really weak cheap bulk loads like Federal Champion or Winchester White Box 115gr. |
