Well I just bought myself a USC and a mint Navy UMP lower...

What am I in for? Please tell me good times.

Say goodbye to about $2,000 for starters. Email Tommy Built Tactical for the conversion if you don't want to do it yourself. Unless you're a machinist, I highly recommend sending to him. He did my G36KC and currently has my USC. With the G36 you pretty much have to do the receiver weld method unless you want a way too long LOP. With USC to UMP you can either do the receiver weld for about $750 or use a rear stock block that adds 5/8" or so and the conversion will run about $350 depending on options. (SBR engraving, remark to UMP, enlarge the front clips on UMP lower, mill forearm vent holes).

I used the stock block from HDPS and had Aviator Dave on HK pro mill the vents. Modified and fitted the lower myself.
I did not re-mark it to UMP only engraved for the form 1. Pretty simple project and one of my favorites.

Good choice on carbine.
HDPS did my conversion.

I recently had TBostic (Tommy Built Tactical) do the conversion on my UMP. Very fair price, and quick turn around. Still have to take it to the range; This Friday hopefully.

The parts are expensive but it's not very complicated. The only somewhat difficult part is milling the magwell and the vent slots. Fitting the lower and the stock block is pretty easy.

I plan on doing the conversion myself. I'm not a machinist but my boss is and I asked him if he would help me. I would like to do it myself because I like to do stuff myself. I plan on going with the stock block for now.

He does excellent work. I'd just rather do it myself. Let me know how it shoots.

You have the gun, you have the lower, that is a significant part of the cost. I did mine myself, it is really not that hard. Here is a link to how I did it:

Thanks for the link! I plan on trying to rid myself of some of the parts I won't need anymore.

Someone sponge painted it. It was gray. I'm gonna shoot it then start to hack it apart.

Elite Survival Systems. It's made for the UMP.

They sell one that they say fits the UZI.

I sent you the cad for the forend vents. Totally forgot about it after you emailed me

Also, I now have a mod to the stock that retains it in the folded position. I'll have a thread started with pics this weekend, although it isn't really visible in the finished form

Just an FYI there's a group buy on the stock block that accepts the MagPul ACR stock which would be somewhat cheaper than the HK stock and it looks pretty good too.  Here's the LINK if you want to save some money on your conversion.

Saw that on HKPro but I'd rather roll with the UMP stock.

I've got my USC with Tom Bostic right now. I'm having him mill the vents, engrave my trust info, add a stock catch, and dye the receiver.

[#33]
Setting up to mill....

Better measure this twice.

6/14/2014 2:53:42 PM EDT

I've finished milling the vents. I also did the mag area in the receiver. That was a little hair raising given the BCG rails are right there. I've also got the UMP lower fitted to the receiver and I milled out the safety selector so that the UMP one can be used with the USC internals and the markings line up.

It's off to Tom Bostic at Tommy Built Tactical next for remarking, SBR markings and refinishing.

I'm pumped for this to be finished.

Can you say CHA-CHING $$$

HDPS did my build. I went with a threaded barrel so I could use the Same AAC suppressor I use with my USP Tactical 45.

Ballpark, and assuming work is performed by a professional, what is the total amount one should expect to spend from start to finish on a USC conversion?  (Not including mags and accessories, of course, just the gun, conversion parts and labor.)

USC - $1600 and up
UMP Lower - $275 - $300...may be more, may be less. Prices have been coming down on these
Stock Block - $165
Turning lower to work with upper - $40, or get a file (HDPS)
Milling cooling ports, mag work, engraving - $160 (TommyBuilt)
Stock - $100
Stock Pin - $20
Rails - $100
HK Vertical Grip - $60
Barrel Cut and Thread - $85 (ADCO)
NFA Tax - $200

Or you can get a UMP ($1600 and up) and get a parts kit ($800 and up). My first build was with me having to buy parts individually. My second I was lucky and found a parts kit

I've got $3000 each or so in both of mine.

I had ADCO thread a UMP barrel, only because I had one on hand. If I didn't, Id just by a HDPS barrel, Wanted to keep the factory barrel unmolested to revert from SBR status if I chose to in the future.

For me (and I did some of the work)

USC - $1350
UMP Stock with Pin - $135
Stock Block B - $145
UMP Lower - $275
Remark, SBR Mark, Refinish - $190

I milled the vents and mag area on the receiver.

I still need mags but I have 2 factory USC 10 Rounders and 3 Promag 20 rounders I can sell to offset that cost. The gun came with two rails that I may replace the bottom one later on. I think I did ok.

Form 1 was just filed.
