no, Retro, no pics.

i just today received my PTR32 rifle i purchased from _ _ _ _.

upon receiving the rifle i broke it down and sprayed the bolt and carrier with RemOil. i typically grease with either lithium grease or slide glide, but not today.

i started at 50 yard where i fired the rifle for function and magazine compatability. the rifle fired flawlessly with Bulgarian slab-sided 30-round mags (one came with the rifle, one was mine). it also worked well with Bulgarian 40-round slab sided, and 30-round and 40-round Bulgarian "bullet" magazines, EXCEPT that the last round would jam into the top of the chamber. i plan to try using Wolff high-power mag springs in these mags, when i have the chance.

Bulgarian steel mags would insert but only the first round would strip. Russian, Romanian, Hungarian (20-round) and Yugoslavian (BHO) steel mags would not even insert. ironically, the Tapco mag i bought directly from PTR would not even insert in the magwell.

i had along a standard G3 carrier and #15 LP, but neither was necessary. the rifle ran fine (except for mag problems) as shipped

at 50 yards i had no trouble holding pretty much all of my shots inside a 4-inch diamond. at 100 yards, after i got settled in, i pretty easily kept all my shots inside a 6-inch diameter shoot-and-see circle. to be fair to the rifle, i shoot a lot of iron-sighted rifles but struggle with HK iron sights (as opposed to peep sights of the type found on the M1A/M14/AR platforms, which i can use to shoot 1-2" groups). the rifle was performing this well with the Ulianski (sp?) ammunition, which looked like Wolf ammo and is the cheapest stuff on the market, right now.

this rifle was clearly more accurate than any other 7.62x39 rifle i have ever owned or used, to include a WASR fixed stock and UF, a Saiga 7.62x39, Russian, Yugo and Chinese SKS's. it is as accurate as my WASR 5.45 was, and the Norinco thumbhole 5.56 that i sold to my shooting buddy to partially fund this purchase (he was shooting it beside me). the only 7.62x39 rifle i have seen that was as accurate was a certain ArfCom board member's Krink build.

after shooting about 80 rounds the bolt gap was .015.

it appeared that the compliance parts are the flash hider (no spring), PTR aluminum handguard (which did not get hot), barrel, bolt, receiver, stock and pistol grip. the cocking handle was marked "P!" so i don't know if this is a compliance part, or not. i plan to replace the cocking handle so i can use the rifle with a wood stock OR C93 handguard. at some point i plan to send the rifle to Ghilliebear to see about getting steel mags to work, and a drum cut.

i'll get it out this weekend with a Hensoldt to see if i can improve my group sizes. al

Cool.

"Bullet" mags are also known as junk mags.

Tapco AK mags will often work if they fit. But they can filed to fit. The springs are junk. Take apart a commie 30 rnd AK mag and the Tapco and compare springs to see what I mean. You CAN put a commie spring in the Tapco mag.

Tapco mags are for the range not to bet your life on.

As you probobly also know it's not rare to have to do some mild filing to make some AK mags fit a particular AK since tolerances vary alot.

I'm curious about these rifles (P32) and it seems to me if the action gets enough recoil to work and if commie steel magazines can work than it should be one of the best of the 7.62x39 rifles. Although a bit heavy of course.

Let us know how it does (or keeps doing rather)!

You'll need to modify the Tapco feed lips for the 32. I've got mine working great now. Search for my previous post about the mag mods.

actually, the bullet mags run perfectly in my Yugo, so i can't blame them. also, the 40-round slab-sided Bulgarian mag exhibited the same problem, the 30-round slab-sided did not exhibit the problem, so i think it's a 40-round mag spring problem.

i am going to try Wolff high-power mag springs in my 40's to see if that fixes the problem. i'd really like to have the ability to run a 40 (and a 20) in this rifle.

Just so you know the Mag springs are for the 30 round magazines and will most likely not work in a 40 round magazine
