They should be feeding in that rifle. Double feeds are almost always distorted or weak feed lips on the magazine. Any photos? |

The H&K High Reliability Steel mags are not reliable? What kind of malfunctions did you have with those? no they are not, the springs wear out too early. I had the chance to pick up a few of them, they were worn out after a few months of service. I passed, usgi run just fine. |
We had a ton of these in Afghanistan. Nobody used them because they are heavier than need be (you count ounces not pounds when you're light infantry) and we had issues with them. We also avoided P-Mags because early ones would crack their feed lips. USGI mags with grey magpul followers are your best bet in my opinion...

| I have used Colts, NHMTG, and Brownells with out issue. I have had the hk mags bend a feed lip when dropped, the metal is more mailable that al mags, and it will no longer feed from that side. My network of 416 shooters have also experienced broken lugs on the bolts and broken dis-connectors. And the inside of the upper receivers have developed gouges. |

Being only a range commando, I've never had issue with them, they are heavy, but beautifully built.
The mag springs are soft, they look and feel like the G36 magazine spring. The trick I have found for perfect reliability is to change out the spring with the ones from the Korean built 416 mags, they are stiffer and taller than the German ones. Work great!! The follower on the K416 mags are crappy, the German ones are far nicer, so I install USGI green followers and wolff AR springs I use the German ones as my "best" mags, the Korean ones as back up "beaters" and they still work fine for range time. |
