I just received a Trijicon ACOG Special Ring Adaptor MM02 for use with my new 1.5 ACOG.
My plan was to use it on my SW-5 as an alternative when desired.
Here is the issue...

So I open the package and examine the mount and see that one side has the flat "grips" like the claw mount I was used to seeing....flat side that grabs the lugs on the receiver but the other side have two round "grips" unlike what I have seen before.
I tried in vain to attach the mount.
I loosened them....tried to "swing" the mount over the top of the receiver...tried sliding the mount under the rails.
Here is a pic of the mount.
Sorry but I did not realize I was so close to it until I uploaded it.

OK all of you ARFCOM warriors....what am I doing wrong?
If I take the round ones off and use two of the flat ones on either side, it locks in tight and presents a great sight picture.
I would be willing to buy two more if available but I can't seem to be able to talk to a person at Trijicon.

Just to be certain, I looked up the part on the Trijicon website and low and behold, it has two flat and two rounded "grips" in the stock photo.
And before the "TB..CA..out of spec..." rants, this is a cast receiver that has performed perfectly, fits every HK add-on, has worn a  Hensoldt FERO-Z-24 w/ claw mount without problems...I am just looking for some guidance here.

Thank you,

Echo

osprey21 and retrodog are 2 of the most knowledgeable HK guys on here.Try giving them an IM.I'm actually surprised they haven't already posted. You might also try asking over at HKPRO,there's a ton of info over there.Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I've never seen a mount like that. Forgive me for missing the thread but I don't have any ACOG sights so I just assumed that I didn't know anything about an ACOG-specific mount. I was correct.

It looks like the round thing is missing from one end of the mount. Is that the case?

Can you completely remove the claw mounts from the sides with the little bolts. I have a sight mount that requires complete removal of those. Unless the threads are cut/bent  to stop it, that's what I'd try.

Retro,

Thank you for the input.

To answer your question, no.
I removed one of them in attempts to get it on the receiver but put one back on to illustrate the "issue".
The unit ships with two round and two flat.

I assumed that the two rounded sides go on the side opposite the bolt as that side has little clearance due to the welded ejector bracket.
No matter what I do, it will not fit...I even tried removing them and then sliding them under the brackets to bolt them in.
I even told myself that I might loose a little paint in the process and was OK with that.

I still have an email in to Trijicon but so far, no response.

I have two claw-style/ santag scoped mounts that fit perfectly but I picked up this sweet ACOG and you know how it goes.
I am still looking for two more flat mounts that I can swap out for the round ones.
With only two points attached, I gave it a quick dance and "as is" I dinged an auto-popper three times out of four at 50 yards (first one I flinched) and five for five at ranges closer.
I REALLY want to get this to work.

I may do a little grinding if all else fails...

Place the gun on some type of support (vice) as you will need two hands.

Place the MM02 on the receiver so the round lugs are on the left and squared/triangular lugs are on the right as you are looking down the sights.

Hold the top of the mount in one hand and with the other hand begin to tighten the screws little by little as if you tighten one at a time the mount will become canted.

Patience!

and BTW - Trijicon has discontinued this mount.  Hmmm....

That's the real reason that allen wrenches are "L" shaped. So that you can easily count rotations.

I found that out as well.....but it is still available through retailers?!?
That is how I was trying it with the rounds on the left and flats on the right.

I will try what you suggest but the issue is that with the round pieces on the mount, I can't get it to roll right to allow the other side to be in the correct placement to secure.
Even with them loose, it wants to hang-up and I really did not think that I would have to force it over.
Maybe I am just being too cautious and should give it a good hand slap but I surely do not want to cause my fully operational SW5 to become a paperweight like some have been complaining about.

I think the best thing to do is to snap a few pics and post them if elbow grease fails.

Thank you Retro and Osprey!

The fact that it's a clone may also have a bearing on the fit.
FWIW... the instructions I posted was verbatim what Trijicon told me when I asked them about these some time ago.

Osprey brings up another good point here. My SW5 is a cast receiver gun. The thickness of the metal is a bit more than the stamped&rolled versions. Makes is strong as hell but some of the resulting dimensions are a bit off on the outside of the gun. I have a B&T knock-off rail on it and that fits great. But it might be worth checking out if it's tighter than it should be because of the clone nature of the gun.

OK guys....it is on.
I barely (and I mean barely) had the rounded sides on and removed the other side pieces and bolts all together.
Used a little gun oil on the rounds and then worked it over the top.
I must have been too hesitant when I first tried it because it went on.

It took a bit of time to get it flush on all sides but it is on straight and level.
Added the ACOG and now it's time to go shoot.

I will post a pic tonight.

Thank you for the guidance and more importantly the moral support.
