So I'm wanting a semi-auto .308 "DM" rifle.  Is a PTR-91F a good gun for this?  If I throw a scope and bipods on there and use match-grade ammo, can I get sub-2 MOA groups?  I don't see a need to make silhouette shots past about 600 yards and 2 MOA would be plenty for that.

Thanks.

More than adequate for those purposes.  Also check out their MSG91.  A little pricier but it has a welded rail on top of the receiver (the optics can sit lower) and an adjustable buttstock.  It its sort of between a SDM rifle and a full-on sniper rig.

I know this is the HK forum but you might look at an AR10 and FALs as well. The AR10 is capable of the groups you are asking, the FAL is capable of chest accuracy out to 800 ish yards. I chose a DSA FAL for this task myself, and Sold my PTR. Just a thought.

you wont likely find an FAL that will beat a ptr91 in the accuracy department of the shelf. The have an edge on ergos but accuracy normally goes to the hk91 platform unless you do some tinkering

the AR10 would be a good choice though if your into the AR platform but the PTR should do you very well

PTR91's are extremly accurate with the 18" barrel and a good scope. I have a Nikon 3-9X50 BCD on mine and can get 1.5" groups all day with plain 308 ammo. If you hand load you might get 1" with 150gr match bullets

The AR-10 is more accurate ofthe group you listed but the 91 is grand.

The squad carbine also comes with a rail on top of the PTR.
