The MR556 is being produced with offset pins keeping the uppers from being put onto standard lowers. Is this part of the stereotypical "Because you suck and we hate you"? Is this due to import regulations? Although I believe these are being Newington, NH, in which case there is no need to
import compliance.

It is not about "Because you suck and we hate you".

It is about HK being manufacturer of "weapons of war".
German law (constitution in fact - this was forced by allies,
including US, after WW2) forbids German companies that produce
"weapons of war" to sell them to civilians. This applies no matter where it
is produced
or sold - if the company is from Germany, it must follow
this law.

End of story.

What about those Leopard Tanks that other nations use?
Warships built at German shipyards that other nations use?

Do they sell the tanks or ships without armaments and let someone else arm them?

RIF - "civilians" don't buy Leopard tanks or warships.

Just wondering, wouldn't a HK Mark23 be a weapon of war?

I had a theory that their country was still being ran by Nazis. This just confirms it.

It stinks that these things have different pin locations.  I mean, if someone is buying an AR style rifle, the lower is the least of the concerns as far as cost. I mean, these uppers are going to be expensive but the lower is just going to be a lower.

Now the HK416 doesn't have this restriction. I think that's how some folks are able to pick them up and put them on a regular milspec lower right?

I hope these things aren't too expensive. I really want two.

HK for me!
