I have seen .22 conversions for HK 91s at gun stores and gun shows.  They come in big wooden boxes, and have some kinda barrel sleeve, bolt, magazines, etc.  Are they any good?  Is it worth the money for range plinking or are these kits pretty much just collectors accesories?  I love throwing my .22 conversion in my AR and taking it to the indoor range just for some fun plinking and wouldn't mind having the ability to do it with the HK 91.

Get one. Take it home, take it apart, clean it real good, put it back together, drop it in your 91 and HAVE FUN!

Depends on how much disposable income you have for 7.62.

They are very reliable, but most kits out there today are the g-3 kit versus the actual 91 conversion.  Both Cheaper than Dirt and Sportsman's Guide has the G-3's in the mid 500 range.

The G-3 kit will require a good cleaning prior to use and then you also have to add an approx. 2in sleeve of tube onto the recoil rod for the assembly to properly cycle.

Hope this helps.

You only need the spacer on the recoil rod if you forget to not pull the charging handle back too far.  I run a G3 kit in my PTR and the only time it f*cks up is when I f*ck it up by not paying attention and pulling too far.  One of these days I will find myself an adequate spacer, but it's just as easy to focus, you do have a weapon in your hand after all.

They're very well made and work fine. The biggest draw back is magazine availability.

It's a great kit. I wrote up a review on here once. I'm sure it's archived somwhere.

It is still up at HK pro.

I did find a spare mag too. Three seems like enough.

I shoot mine so much that I wonder if I break a part how would I ever find repair parts?
