guys, is a reasonable conversion just buying mp5 barrel and slappin it in (any heavy mods needed?) adding collapsible stock, and paddle mag release? Are there other things that need to be done if im just gonna keep it semi-auto? Thanks Marshall *i do realize i would need approved form 1 before i bought the barrel |
Depends on what you want to do. Adding to what you listed, you could get yourself an SEF lower for your semi trigger pack, remark the gun "MP5", etc. With these mods done properly the gun would be visually indistinguishable from a real MP5. |

Not sure what you mean by "slappin on" a MP Barrel.....I understand that the barrel is press fitted and requires a 5 ton press. Not the normal do-it-yourself project. Just an idea.....Sell the HK94, buy a CA89 and pocket the extra 3K (or buy 30,000 rds of 9mm ammo) From www.remtek.com/arms/hk/mil/mp5/choice/coang.htm

Lots of people do it at home with AK builds, why not with an Hk build? I say do it, or get someone that is a good gunsmith to do it. |

I have a 94 that I did just what you described to, although I didn't remark it as an MP5. Recently I bought a registered auto sear and the gun will be just like an MP5. One word of caution on the SEF or other plastic lower. On my lawyers advice I set aside my SEF lower (waiting for the registered autosear) and put the semi trigger pack back in a regular HK 94 lower. Try explaning to an LEO or ATF agent that your SEF lower only contains a semi auto trigger in it. They might want to take it and check is the fear I think. |
