I picked up a Surfire forarm light for my V51.. The flash hider is right on top of the bezel ring for the light.  I'm worried that when I shoot it, fire, hate, and discontent spewing forth from the muzzle will dynamically disassemble my zippy new light.

Is there anyone that makes an M16A2 style flash hider (or anything with a closed bottom on it) so I don't maim my light when I shoot?

I've seen people put duct tape over the light to keep it clean...  But that was on MP5s, not a V51...  7.62 would probably blow the s--- out of the tape pretty quickly...

I put a Surefire tri-rail on my V51 so I could mount the light slightly behind the muzzle, just for that reason...

could have somebody weld up the bottom hole, mill it and refinish it, i would think.

didn't sure fire have an off-set that would give more clearance for a suppressor?

If so wouldn't that work?

I think it's called the A17, and that would move the light away from the blast...

I purchased a vortex flash hider from J. Kwan in California.  I don't know if he still makes them; but the fit, finish, and quality were top shelf.  He made one for a V-53 and one for a V-51.  I suspect he would customize it for you.  E-mail me and I'll give you the direct contact information.

Thanks for all the help.

I think I'm going to look for the adapther thing, to move the light away from the muzzle for now.  If I'm not happy with that, I'll check out some of the other options.

You could always sleave the bottom of the FH.
