Well I finally got around to doing the mod. Some fine craftsmanship from my gun smith. Haven't shot it yet but should get a chance to in the next few days.

Looks good; list the mods . . . .

I've wondered if a G3-style could be fitted to an MP5/93 style rifle . . . I guess you answerd that question.  Other than cutting a portion of the metal (deleting the second pin hole), what else did he do to the stock?

Did it have a fake supressor, or did you have to chop/replace the barrel?

If it did have a fake supressor, do you know what kind of paint he used on the barrel?

Very nice looking.

Sorry if I mislead anyone. I was the actual gunsmith. I cut the barrel down to 9". Then I took a nice fine file and flattened the end square, by hand. I had to call upon my training from many years ago in machine and wood shops to do the filing job. I then used a flat file to add a little bit of a curve to the outter edge of the barrel end and used some fine round needle files to de-burr the inner edge. I'm going to test it a little before deciding on whether I'll try to get a crowning tool for doing the inside.

Mods have been very little by me. I replaced the extractor, ejector lever, and extractor spring with HK parts. I'm happy with the way it operates with good ammo but wish it would work better with cheap stuff. If I try to use reloads I get some FTEs. There is apparently a problem with using an HK91 hammer spring, making it necessary to use good quality powerful ammo to push the bolt back hard enough to get a good ejection. I might try to replace that spring to see if that helps in the cycling of the system.

I might be replacing the whole bolt assy with a FA HK unit, since it's a SBR now and I don't have to worry about that pesky 922 thing any more. And I might get a registered sear some time in the future.
