Getting ready to lay my hands on my first HK style weapon, a BW89 clone (set up in K configuration with a side folder) and really, for whatever reason, prefer the A3 style stock. Is it possible to put a A3 stock on this weapon? If so how much for a good/stable A3 stock?

You can't put a stock on a hand gun unless you:

1. Have a registered full auto sear in it.
2. Register it as a short barreled rifle.
3. Put a 16" barrel on it.

I have seen people put an A3 style stock on it, but do not know where to get one.

nope, the MP5 and SP89/MP5k recievers attach to the stock different. the SP89/MP5k stocks go inside the reciever, the MP5 stocks go on the outside.

i think you are looking at 300+ for a real A3 stock

The only way I found to put an A3 stock on an BW89 is to the the "short" version of the subcal stock adapter. I put a standard A3 stock on it and it had alot of vertical play whan fully extended due to the subcal crescent cuts instead of the rectangular trough running the full length (I hope that makes sense)......

Here is what I came up with and it is rock solid......minor fitting was required....minor.....

The A3s for BW89s were made by shortening the rails to fit, then cutting new locking notchs, IIRC, but I don't know who does the work...

This is what I'm going to use when I get my Form 1 back...

This is the adapter I find. I really like the looks of th A3 retractable stock better than the new UMP style/B&T.  Will this adapter/A3 set up work on the BW89 the same as it works on the sp89?  Thanks for all the input

I don't think you will be able to collapse the stock. I also have a BW89 and have looked at putting an A3 on it. I have taken the A3 off of my hk94 and looked at it to see how it would attach. If you look at the adapter, there is material in the way of were the rails would pass through the adapter on the side. You may have to go to a machine shop and have one made. That is what I am thinking of doing.

thanks for the input. In further research I found this picture on the net

in response to a question about the adapter, I believe the owner of that bw89a3 said this:

Where did you get the 2-PIN TO 1-PIN stock adapter? I gotta have one of those!!

The adapter that allows the A3 stock to be used on the SP89/MP5K pistol receivers is from www.subcal.com. This adapter has also been modded so that its shorter (non-modded adapter long enough for A3 or A2 but leaves ugly gap when A3 used) and also modded so that the stock can slide closed.

Looks like that may be the answer. So is there a cheaper alternative to a factory A3 stock at 400?
