Thinking about mounting a reflex sight on my MP5.  I am a big fan of Eotech optics but they seem a bit bulky for a little gun.  I would like to retain the relatively large field-of-view of the open screen and I really like the 1MOA dot and surrounding ring.  I was thinking of something like an armoured OKO or C-more clamped to a B&T mount.  Aimpoints seem popular on MP5s but I'm not sure I like the tube-body.  Any help or thoughts appreciated.

Even though the Aimpoint has a tube body... If you keep both eyes open (which you should), the ring disappears.   Having a ring is only an issue if you close one eye like you do when doing serious target shooting.

Eotechs work just fine on HKs, but they sit too high to co-witness through the optic.

Ive used the Aimpoint and Eotech. I liked the Eotech on a B&T mount the best but both work great.

Have you condered a Jpoint/Docter/Pride-Fowler red dot?

A couple different options I've tried...

I liked each for different reasons. I liked the open feel of the Eotech but didn't like the N battery option and thought the weight of the B&T rail combined with the weight of the Eotech was too much for what is supposed to be a light and handy gun. The Aimpoint was better in the weight department, and the cowitnessing was very reassuring. But the Aimpoint does cut down what you can see, even if you keep both eyes open. The tube creates a blind spot about 33% diagonally from the weak eye.

There's a whole reticle issue that comes down to preference I think.

The last sight I had on my SW-5 (pictured) was the Aimpoint. Currently it has irons only, but I'm considering another Eotech. Or maybe a Pride-Fowler on a LaRue mount!

Here's my setup (although I've gone back to the std hand guard and A2 stock)...

Aimpoint Comp ML2 (no need for night vision capabilities) on a B&T 10266 mount and B&T 21530 throw-lever QD ring.  I can co-witness through the optic, and the ring disappears.  I'm right handed, and right eye dominant.  I see things to the right of the field-of-view in my periferal vision, and things to the left with my left eye.  Occasionally, I lose the red dot if I focus off to the right too much, but as I sweep right, there it is again.   The BEST thing about this setup for me is the fact that my cheek weld remains the same with or without the optic.

Nice to see another non-SBR'd HK94.  I've been debating if I should take the plunge or enjoy it as is.

Another member mentioned favoring the iron sights because of how quick they were, and the low profile while moving.

Vandal,

What mount did you use with the Aimpoint?  It looks like and MFI.

I had a MFI briefly and was not impressed. That's a B&T 10266 mount you see with the Aimpoint.
