Anyone have experience, extensive if possible,  regarding the UMP in 40 S&W?  As it is obviously not easy to obtain, there is very little info on the net regarding reviews of the weapon system.

Looking at obtaining some for LE use to supplement current MP-5s in service.  We've since changed to 40 S&W for duty handguns and are interested in doing the same with tactical SMGs.

I know I can obtain info from H&K directly, but I was looking for independant info from actual users/operators, not only advertising from the manufacturer.  I trust H&K to produce a quality product, but would like to hear any negatives we should consider.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

The negatives:
I'm not real fond of them, they are not nearly as controlable in full auto as the MP-5 due to caliber and weight.
Also due to polymer/plastic construction they tend to break at the front pin area (ears) if care is not taken during assembly and disassembly.

The positives:
Hell, they're available.
Cheaper than the MP-5.
More calibers.

And yeah, my opinions are from real hands on with them, not gun rag rehash.

Just got some feedback from a large dept who uses the UMP40...for those who might be interested.

They state stay with MP-5 9mm or Colt SMG.  Avoid the UMP40 for listed reasons of recoil, uncomfortable shooting and some breakage of plastic/polymer parts.
