Need help identifying a malfunction on my MP5 clone. After chambering a round it won't fire, just "click". Once the mag is ejected, the chambered round stays in and doesn't extract. With the mag out, bolt slammed forward then it fires that round off. Does the same thing round after round. Would it make a difference if I replace the bolt, extractor with an HK parts? |

Do you normally let the bolt slam closed? It appears that the rollers aren't locking, and the extractor isn't engaging the cartridge rim. If you ARE letting it slam shut, but it only works when the magazine is removed, it could be that the bolt/carrier is dragging on something to slow it down enough to keep it from locking up. Maybe on the magazine/top round? Has this happened since you've had the gun, or just recently? Might be a bad mag, or a tight mag spring. Do you have trouble loading it? Or, it could be that the mag sits too far up the magwell on your gun. Try out other magazines. If you replace any U.S. parts with imported parts, mind your parts count. All I got. Anybody else? (edited to add: D2000 may have hit the primer with the pin on this one. |

Usually, once the mag is seated, I slap the cocking handle and the bolt slams shut to feed the first round in the chamber and appears to lock up. This happens w/each round not only the top one. It use to not completely eject the spent round but had it worked on and gunsmith worked on the extractor. Tried other mags w/same results. When I received it back from the gunsmith, it worked flawlessly but has been 6 months now and started to malfunction. As for it being a "Hesse", yes I am quite aware of it's reputation. Unfortunately, I was looking for help w/the problem not useless comment. |
| Never seen a Hesse, much less worked on one, so take this with a grain of salt. I will assume that you have cleaned the thing, including scrub the chamber, so I would think that the recoil spring might be getting a bit on the weak side. Have had that trouble with a couple of SW guns and turned a couple of spacers to increase the spring tension and corrected my problem with the guns. |
