| I am looking to buy a Vulcan arms V94-200 MP5 clone. What do you think of these rifles? If any one has pictures please post them. I am trying to look at what option are available. |
| Based on my research, Bobcatweapons.com is close... Think we need to start a thread for all Bobcat owners to post their experiences, pics and range reports on. This way we can get a nice representative sample of the weapon. What do you say Bobcat owners? Can you do it for the greater good? |
Since no one bothered to explain WHY the Vulcan is such a bad word, I'll jump in--you know how the "real" HKs use that goofy delayed-blowback, rollerlocked action? Complicated in its own right, but we love them all the same? Yeah, the Vulcan makes it a straight blowback action. It's like taking a Yugo chassis and engine, and putting a classic GTO body (through magic! ) on top of it. Besides the obvious "let's dress it up like something its not", Vulcan is also known for producing extremely crappy firearms. If I'm not mistaken, they used do business as Hesse. Go post over in the Dark Side and ask just how cool a Hesse receiver AK is...(no seriously, don't, you'll get hurt)So basically, for the 1000 bucks or whatever Vulcan wants, you'd be better off sending the money right to me. I'll at least send a polite thank you card! |

You know what the irony is.... The USC & UMP are simple blowback.... like.... ummmm.... the..... ummmmm Vulcans ![]() I've never shot a Vulcan, but I'd say that if they didn't suck then they would kick ass ( yeah, wrap your brain around that one ) Seriously though... there's nothing wrong with blowback at all. I'd take an MP5 clone in blowback just because I am not a purist... but it would have to be a well made reliable gun, and well let's face it, Vulcan doesn't make a gun like that. Plus there are a hell of a lot more HK, HK licensed and US made parts for delayed blowback.... so buying a vulcan just doesn't make sense at all. I just wish someone would make some fucking receivers that are worth a damn !!!! I mean we need more G3 clones like we need hairs in our head ![]() JLD's owner would be sitting on a 24 karot gold toliet right now if he had bought the ![]() Oh well, hindsight is what 20/10 nowadays... ETA : Substitute MKE for FMP, oops. |
I don't think he meant the simple blowbacks suck, just that a true MP5 uses a delayed blowback which is what what makes the MP5/G3s. Yet Vulcan took that way. And you know why they did it. (hint: it's not to make their product better...) |
You're right Kevin... I was thinking MKE Thank you for correcting me on that one [looks to make sure no one is looking] |
I agree darkest... it is kinda like a smoke and mirrors thing with Vulcan. Vulcan/Hesse knows that most people wont do their research.... customers just see an MP5 when they look at the V-94 and they want one. When I got interested in this whole HK clone stuff ( not long ago ) I did a lot of research and asked a lot of questions like most still do. It is hard to get the whole truth out of this industry, so many rumors, lies, myths, hearsay, etc. Vulcan tries to sell the look, not the quality, nor the correct internal functions ![]() BTW, my remark about JLD.... They make the best damn clones on the planet, in many respects they are better than original HKs and cheaper to boot. I was merely stating my bias that MP5 clones would outsell G3 clones 2:1 because no one makes the MP5 clones that offer great quality and customer service. Bobcat is coming around to do that now... but look at all the shit that went on in the background just to make Bobcat a firearms maker. JLD kicks ass. Bobcat is coming along nicely.... but we still need another receiver maker to get this industry moving along. ORF, gonna make any receivers before another ban comes along If anyone has to have an MP5 clone right now... or within say the next 3-6 months. I would go and buy a Bobcat and have no regrets... well maybe a few, but not as many as getting caught up in a GB that is looking like a train wreck with more casualties every week. JMWilson, go buy a Bobcat BW5-FS, then slap on an SEF or Burst trigger pack and go to town. You will more than likely be very satisfied. Rant over....

I just got mine from Atlantic Firearms. They still have quite a few in stock. I bought a BW89 PDW (the MP5''s kid brother) and couldn't be more pleased. Atlantic Firearms also auctions off alot of guns on Gunbroker.com, but I think you're better off mentioning you were refered to them from AR15.com. You can interchange HK parts with Bobcats as the Bobcats are true copies, NOT look-alikes. I've swapped stocks so far (with a stock HK) and the fit was tight, but good. The overall finish on the Bobcat guns is really nice: CLEAN welds and a smooth epoxy finish on the metal parts. My Bobcat excepted all the magazines I have tried with it: Stock Bobcat, HK "Waffle" straight magazines, HK curved magazines, Chinese e'cheapo curved magazines and even some "POF" curved magazines and functioned reliably with all of them. If you go to the Vulcan website, take a close look at the V94's, especially the welds on the reciever by the rear sight, and where the cocking tube meets the upper. The guns have a very crude look to them, and not worth the money they are asking for them in my opinion. If you do some more research you'll come across a few people who say that "Bobcat Weapons" is the same company as "Special Weapons", a company that seems to have either folded or discontinued sales to the public. it is NOT. Special Weapons had a poor reputation for inferior workmanship and the use of cheap materials to produce their products. I am very happy with the way my Bobcat was built: it LOOKS finished as if someone took the time to clean up the weld slag and scratch marks on the STAMPED (NOT cast) reciever before shooting the heavy duty epoxy coat on it, unlike some examples of Hesse (Vulcan) and Special Weapons MP5 copies I've seen. Between those 2, the Special Weapons gun is a superior product, but still not even on the same quality level as Bobcat. If it's a Higher caliber you want, I have been told that Vector Arms (NOT VULCAN) produces some very nice .223 and .308 caliber HK clones. In anycase, don't buy a Vulcan like everyone else said. I highly recommend Bobcat Weapons if you're looking to buy a 9MM HK MP5 clone. After over a thousand rounds now I am convinced they make high quality stuff...maybe a little expensive...but GOOD. |

I almost forgot!!!! It's really up to you, but if I were you, I would opt for the BW-5FS instead of the 16" barreled standard BW-5 model from Bobcat reason being the "FS" (Fake Silencer) models come with paddle type magazine release levers already installed. The button to release the magazines still works, but the paddle lever is SO MUCH easier to use. It may not seem like a big deal, but I think Bobcat Weapons charges an extra $125.00 to install a paddle release on the Standard model. The paddle is nice...but not $125.00 nice in my opinion, so why not just pick a model with the paddle release as standard equiptment. |
man, go to your next fun show. hopefully someone will have a vulcan then you can compare it to ANY other manufacturer and you'll be able to see what a truly enormous piece of shit it is!!! it is ghastly and really and truly, i would not pay $100 for it.i'm going to try and take pics of my bw mp5k pdw this weekend and take it shooting... if you go with atlantic firearms make sure you tell him you're an arf.kom mbr, you DO get a discount! |

I've got a BW5-FS and BW89 and both are very nice. I had some problems with both using straight magazines, but that is very common even on HK guns. Otherwise it has run like a champ. However, the powder coat finish is a little thick so getting accessories on and off is a struggle. Also, on my BW89 a factory flash hider will not install without removing all the finish on the three lugs. It won't cause any problems since the bbl is stainless and it will be covered up with the flash hider. |

nugentgl quote - "I've got a BW5-FS and BW89 and both are very nice. " Would you be willing to share : How long you have had them ? How many rounds approximately through each one ? Type of ammunition you typically shoot ? Type of magazines you find most reliable ? Accuracy impressions ? Trying to get as much info in the public about Bobcat for all of us who are contemplating the investment. Would really appreciate any information you could share. Thanks. |

No offense intended whatsoever, but if it wasn't made in Germany and it doesn't have HK stamped on it... then it is not an investment ! The only way a Bobcat would be considered an investment would be if they only made a couple thousand and then stopped production or went out of business... and there were no other clone companies to make an MP5 clone. Otherwise... you have some great questions Yes nugent.... please tell all Knowledge is power kids

You are, of course, correct in your comments regarding the term investment. My intention with that word is that with recent purchases of other firearms, I am severely restricted by the wife unit on what I can spend money on... Therefore, if I have to squirrel away 1600 some odd dollars to acquire a Bobcat, mags and assorted accessories, I will be making an investment in time and getting my ass-chewed for my priorities :) So, I must make sure the sacrifices will be worth it. |
Dude, that put a nice smile on my face Wife unit... haha. Ok, what we gotta do is get a fund raiser started for you.... we may not reach your goal, but at least the wife unit will not be missing all of that 1600 Ok, I can make some pretty good brownies to sell for your fund... anyone else have a baking talent ![]() Hmmm, there is the "car theft" insurance scam plan... this will get you a gun and a new car and a happier wife, oh and will get me a COC violation. ![]() Ha Actually, there is no way out of the ass chewing. I'm single so I wouldn't completely understand the wife thing.... but I know many a married folk... and well... You are just going to have to bite the bullet ( pun intended ) Odds are you have a joint checking account, or burried mason jar, that was your first mistake. So here is your new plan... Take out an extra 10-15 dollars a day and hoard it somewhere and blame the money on rising gas prices and the Middle East Oil bastards. In no time at all you will have saved enough to buy that Bobcat... now get to withdrawing |
I have no idea about their customer service... someone else can answer that... As far as the "best MP5 clone for the money", well dude... it is basically the ONLY MP5 clone, so yeah I guess you could say it's the best for the money ![]() The only other option you have is having SW build you one.... which they really don't do much of that anymore because he created this "front" company to sell his parts to. Basically to get a true roller-locker clone, bobcat is the only game in town. Vulcan is direct blowback and highly frowned upon on the boards ( poor quality ) , not the direct blowback, but the assembly, etc... So go buy yourself a Bobcat, or wait many years for the "chance" that another company will make an MP5 clone... your choice ![]() |
When you say you have shot the 9mm version do mean a version of the "mp5" or a Vector Arms 9mm? |

I have to get in on this. I have a BW-FS5. Have had it for about six months. Have put approximately 1000 rounds through it. All of the parts I have added fit ok. There was however some problems with the internals. The bolt/firing pin/spring/retaining clips/rollers/etc...were all from used/demilled rifles. They were all in poor shape. I had to replace everything in the rifle after the first trip to the range. I was also not impressed with the quality of the BW internal parts. I believe they were the bolt carrier, hammer and entire trigger pack. Not that this should deter you from a Bobcat gun. I have seen the other manufacturer's product (Vulcan) and can honestly say there is no comparison. The Bobcat has extremely good welds and a great finish. Yes, it is a little thick, but not a problem for most shooters. I also own a few HK rifles (MP5, HK94 & SP89) and side by side I actually prefer my BW. I also recently picked up a Vector Arms V53 and must say that in the .223/5.56 category this rifle is also a favorite. IMHOhrough Good Luck! |
XLT, Did you experience any problems with your SBR'd Vector V93 such as FTE, FTF, Keyholing or any other problems? I am planning on buying one of Vector's V93 series weapons but just can't come to terms as to spending $1250.00 for a weapon that may need some tinkering to operate correctly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated? Pancho |
