Just got a new JLD PTR-91K on Tuesday.  Bolt gap measured right at .019 out of the box unfired.  After 6 rounds the gap was at .018.  Fired another 10 and the gap was down to .017.  Yesterday, I ran 20 rounds through it and the gap was at a loose .016.  Should I be concerned?  BTW, the last 20 rounds were with Indian .308.  I have heard that this stuff was not very good, but I am a very subjective person and had to test it myself.  This stuff was NASTY !!! After 20 rounds the hammer had black crap all over it.  The bolt head looked like I had fired about 200 rounds, the barrel took about 15 patches to clean out, and the inside of the trunion was also filthy.  I will never shoot this crap again !!!

Normal,

When installing a barrel, I set the gap at .018, then shoot about ten rounds of hot ammo.  This allows the barrel to move forward in the trunion and tighten it up against the trunion retaining pin (takes out any free playbetween the barrel and the pin).  The end resolt is a B/C gap around .012 (were is needs to be).
