So I took apart the bolt carrier of my new Vector 53 for cleaning.  I decided to take apart the buffer in the bolt carrier as well.   Now of course I cant get it back together correctly.  I cant compress the whole assembly back in to the bolt carrier far enough to get the "slide key" back in.  I think the order of parts goes- The 3 buffer springs, disc, "brake spring" ,and then the buffer bolt.  Not sure if the "brake spring" is directional or not.  It has some sort of copper like coil in the spring to prevent it from compressing (seems like its hanging up).  Maybe I just need to take off the skirt and push harder in the buffer to get it back in? :)  Any suggestions for a new owner or links with a good pictures of the buffer assembly?  - Thanks

Ah, I know your situation very well.  I took my buffer carrier out because I have one in my stock but I wanted to put all the springs back into the carrier to keep the weight closer to original.  I spent about an hour trying to get those stupid springs back in.  I got closest by using a clamp to force the springs back in, I think this is the only way you're going to get the buffer back in.

I finally gave up and just took our the last of the springs, the one with the coil on it.  As for your order of the springs, you have it correct.  A C-clamp should give you the compression you need to get the buffer back together, maybe someone else has a less redneck suggestion on how to get it back together :)

Try a table vise to clamp in into position and slide the retaining plate(key?) back on.  I don't think you could do this without some sort of vise or clamp, by hand would be almost impossible. I would think the table vise would be the 'third hand' you need to put all the pieces back together.

If I remember the correct order, it is the two longer springs first.  These are the springs that fit into each other.  Than there is a round plate that gets dropped on top of this double spring assmembly, than the larger diameter spring is the last spring.  This spring in the one with the brass "anti-compression" piece on it.  Lastly the buffer.
Remember to put some grease into the cavity before you put all the spring back in place.
