A little while ago, someone posted how to decipher HK date codes.  Repost please!!  Need to translate a date stamp on some mags.

the date code on receivers are slightely different from mags and parts.

What are the codes?

A = 0 and K = 9. There will be 2 letters.  AA = 00   AB = 01  IE = 84 etc.  

This is for guns.

I thought the nomenclature for the parts was the same.  I maybe mistaken.

Are you sure it's CR? I don't think R is one of the HK date code letters, below is a list of letters and the number they correspond to:


A B C D E F G H I K
0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

On gun parts or mags they use J for "9" instead of K.

For example if your receiver says IE it means 84 (year 1984)

If your magazine says JA it means 90 (year 1990)

Check your mags again and see what it says carefully, sometimes a B may look like R due to a light stamping.

You know whats funny is that I have a lot of HK stuff with IE codes.  They must have brought in every they could prior to the ban.
