Without all of the usual stupid reponses about Special Wepons, do any of you guys have any of the Bobcat clones. If you do what do you think of them? I don't want your opinion if you don't own one!

| I purchased one about a month a go from Atlantic Firearms. It is a BW5 FSC, fake suppressor with collapsible stock. The good part is the rifle is outstanding. With a registered sear pack, it will make a great host weapon. The fit and finish is outstanding on mine and for the price, I think it is a great alternative to an H&K 94. The bad part is the collapsible stock is piece of junk! Don’t waste your money. The plastic end cap on the end of the receiver cap is very lose and wobbles. I tried to get Bobcat to fix it and they said it was made by Special Weapons and that they are aware of it and have corrected the problem. However, I would have to take that up with them. I also tried to order it with the full-auto bolt carrier. Atlantic Firearms obviously is not aware that it is perfectly legal to have this way. However, they did tell me that they would not order it that way before I ordered it. So, I at least knew that up front. I tried to order the full-auto carrier from Bobcat, but again they referred me to Top notch to get it on my own. So, is it an H&K? No, but it isn’t $3000-$4000 either. The quality of the rifle is great. I just hope it never breaks because Bobcat Weapons customer service sucks! They obviously don’t stand behind there weapons. If you do what one, Atlantic Firearms is outstanding to deal with. I would not hesitate to do business with them again. |
Go to the top-notchparts.com website and you'll see their whole "don't buy parts from POF" section. Todd Bailey was explaining on his hk-54.com boards that they don't want to support POF because they're from Pakistan and Pakistan supports terrorists. Instead, they only want to use good old American made parts so they won't use the POF A3 stocks, they use the ones made by one of Todd's companies. |

The A3 stock first. I have a friend who ordered one from Top Notch and its just not as nice as a real Hk which can be bought for about $100.00 more. It is nicer then most of the aftermarkets though. The plastic end cap doesnt fit the back at all. Wade from Top Notch said well thats just the way its made like it or not. As for POF and Todd Bailey well lets just say he was the sole US dealer till he pissed them off so bad they dumped him. Call POF-USA and inquire! Now for Bobcat! I bought my BW5 3 months ago and would say it is beautiful, however! After about 300 rounds it developed an FTE issue. I bought numerous real Hk parts which didnt fix the problem. I called Andy several times, who was polite, and sent new extractor springs two times because the new ones of the new ones werent heat treated properly. After changing springs it still had the FTE issue. Andy said send it back and we they would open the box as soon as they receive it, fix the issue, and mail it back asap. I mailed the gun w/insurance and confirmation. I then called late the next day they got it (a Tuesday), but they said they were busy building new guns! Shouldnt they be taking care of their current customers and not worrying about making new sales? Now get this, By Friday when I called all they told me they had done was shot it, and made it jam like I said. For 5 days it basically sat. Andy claims it was a holiday week and the situation dependant on the problem they found. Well wouldnt you have to examine it to find the problem? The holiday was Valentines day! So, in conclusion I will keep the gun as long as it shoots when it comes back. If it jams again I will request a new gun or a refund before seeking legal backing! O' and Andy will not return my emails telling me what the so-called fix was as he promised in an earlier email! |

I had a BW-5 standard for awhile I traded for a colt Delta I got the handgun bug I liked it very much, the only thing the I didn't like was that I also bought a E&L barrel shroud for it and it didn't fit. the barrel had a step down on it near the front sight but other than that it was great I would buy one again if I have the chance |
Yes I understand patience. The military taught me well! But when a businessman makes promises they should back them. Also I spoke to Cort in reference to you posting months ago about having your gun re-finished during the FTE work, he said there was a bit of a story behind that but wouldnt explain. So what exactly went on? |
| i had lot of fte problems. spoke with andy alot to diagnose the problem. during some of my range sessions my bw-5 got knocked off the shooting bench and got quite scratched up. when andy decided to have me ship the weapon back, i asked about refinishing it. he offered to do it for free since i was sending it back anyway. i also had him install a paddle mag release while it was there. the complete refinish was offered before i asked about the mag release.so the offer was genuine.andy was great to deal with and have nothing bad to say about him . he was courtious and professional in all my phone call and e mails. hope this helps you out |
| Heres a little something else! A Bobcat employee named Cort now answers the phone for Andy...at least the last few times I called (and he said this was his new job). I was informed by someone who has a major website that Cort started working for Todd Bailey years ago and this person was surprised to here he was still with SW let alone answering Bobcats phone. Now tell me Todd doesnt have interest in both companies! |
