I just picked up a SAR 8 for under 700. I thought  it was a good deal. Any one know if I can put a HK stock on and take off the thumb hole stock? and would it need to be a US made stock?

thanks

I think there is a company called Top Notch Accessories or something like that.  They do G36 conversions with a new lower, accepts AR mags, etc.

Congratulations on your purchase!

This might sound heretical and dangerous, but why worry about US vs. foreign parts?  I know all about the US 922 law, but that isn't intended to keep you, a private cizen, from replacing parts as you see fit.  It's intended to make mfg'ers and shops like ORF, IGF, JLD and Century comply with the '89 ban.  There has never been a case of some individual owner being prosecuted for such a violation.  Just make sure the final configuration is legal for the state you live in, and avoid NFA violations.

My advice is to look around at RTG, HKParts Online, POF-USA, or wherever, and put on whatever stock makes you happy.

BTW, Top Notch has a terrible reputation for poor customer service.

JMHO, YMMV, flame away.
