First off I'm sure there's got to be threads about this but only one showed up in search.... that one was looking for something in texas.

I found the special weapons one, but that's 2K which seems high to me. I've looked at the Vulcan ones but heard sooo many bad things about that it's insane.

What are the options? I'd like something I can stick the folding or sliding stock on and eventually do a shortbarrel... Needs to use mags that are easily availiable and hopefully use parts that are easily replacable... Any suggestions?

You could try http://www.bobcatweapons.com
They build clones, they do use Special Weapons parts to do so, but so does every other clone builder out there (except Vulcan, their stuff is different for a reason).
Any HK clone that runs like it should will be pricey, but not as pricey as the real deal.
Word is that ORF http://www.ohiorapidfire.com/ will start to produce their own receivers for the clones they sell soon so you may want to wait. If you can't wait their RF94 is a HK94/MP5 clone availible for about $1500 (made with Special Weapons Parts). A good builder with good customer service is a must, I've heard (read) good things about both. Can't decide? hit the web sites and get the phone numbers and talk to them in person. Buy from who ever gives you that warm fuzzy feeling.

I was hoping HK would give me something but i should have known better... Oh well oh hell.

I can wait, I wanted to look into special weapons but I'm told they stopped producing them. The ohio rapidfire ones it doesn't say if I can slap the sliding stock on them or not.. I think they're one of the ones I sent an email to....

I figured without the AWban there'd me the ones with the sliding stocks everywhere....
