Anyone have an idea what kind of FAL barrel would only have the letters F, E and M on it?  there is one other mark that is very light.

Thanks

Some pictures might help.

Do you know what kind of barrel you're talking about?  A milsurp....inch?  metric?

Any crossed flag stamped around the breach?

the Australians used fewer marks than the british.  Supposed to be very good shooters.

British barrels would have a ED or BSA 960 part number under the handgaurds.  As well as other proof acceptance marks and letters for heat or steel lot codes.
Parker Hale also made barrels for the L1A1, marked PH by the part number. would also be a 2 digit year, along the lines of 82 for 1982, an example I make up.

then there are indian barrels. I can't help at all there.

OK, my google came up with this if it helps;
