There is a R1A1 at the local gunshop for $700. It seems like a reasonable price. The owner said it didn't have any issues when he fired it. Is it a good deal? What should I be looking for when I look at it? Any questions I need to ask? It has an aftermarket muzzle brake. It appears to be a bolt on. It comes with 3 magazines. Thank you.

IIRC an R1A1 is a Century made frankenfal.

Check out and see who made the receiver. It may be Century's in house receiver with iffy quality or possibly an Imbel. These guns can be trouble or diamonds in the rough.

ETA-get us some pics so we can give you better advice.

It said "made in USA".... I didnt see Imbel on the receiver. It had the kind of lower that takes both metric and inch. I dont recall which style that is off hand.

Like Blitz said...pics and we can help more.

At the least, can you test it at the range first, or is it a "no returns" type deal?
