Hey everyone I have a question about Fal values. I have a cousin who passed away and he owned a Australian Fal that was a parts kit and then purchased receiver for it. His wife is trying to sell his collection to relatives first before hitting up the gun shops. She said an appraiser had appraised his L1A1 at $1800 does this sound about right? Finish is at about 75% I have normally seen these rifles go for about $1000 max usually.. I ask because I want to buy my cousins rifle but I am not going to get ripped off in the process. Theres no optic No rail now wood furniture on it at all. its all Plastic handguards.

Depends what manufacturer the receiver is.

If it's a century receiver, no way it's worth that.

Imbel, DSA, Coonan  receiver would be better.

$1000 sounds right, $1800 is dreaming

I think its a DSA receiver, but the receiver is the only good looking part of the rifle it was a used surplus kit with original surplus barrel. so theres scratches on some of the metal about 75%... I know DSA makes better receivers butI still didn't think it would put it up over $1000...

Nope lol sounds like it though. She didn't say who appraised them but I do know he bought some of them before he was done. So I'm guessing he appraised the ones he wanted low so he could buy them and then over priced the rest. Help she is selling sten gun parts kits for $50 and AK kits for $75 ... The prices are all messed up.

Oh geez...let me guess, that's what he said the sten and AK kits are worth now, right?

Hmm. Come to think of it, I might be interested in a sten kit, lol. I better shut up!

Maybe mention to her that it's always a good idea to get three estimates...

I did mention that to her already. If that's what she is going to sell the kits for ill buy them all I guess. And yes all values is what the appraiser told her current market value is.

$1800 for any FAL, unless it's a pre-'89 import or a folding-stock para, is damn high right now. For an Aussie parts gun on an as-yet-to-be-determined receiver?

" Appraisers... Don't smoke crack!!"

Find out the receiver manufacture first before you offer anything.
