| Just shot my FAL for the first time. I noticed something that im not sure is correct. On some of the discharges, fiery exhaust shot straight up out of the the end of the gas tube. 60 rounds were shot, and the gun functioned fine the whole time. Im not sure if the gas adjustment knob needed to be adjusted. It was on 5. I have a few second video I can email. |

I took mine to the indoor range and I saw fire come out of the front sight. I usually shoot outside, so I'd never seen that before myself. Made me do a quick inspection too. The whole gas system is up front, I'd assume it came from there rather than the gas tube, but I guess anything is possible. Take off the HG and check to see if your tube has 2 holes. I believe they should be aligned parallel to the ground, at least that's how all the ones I've seen are. Also check to make sure it's drilled and pinned. |

The adjustment knob is for recoil and reliability adjustment. If it's working fine, then don't worry about it.
It's a 308 caliber. Quoted:

How far did your brass fly? FALs do not have a violent extraction and ejection, unlike an H&K or AK-series rifle, so if it's slinging your brass with a lot of force you may need to adjust your gas regulator.
A tutorial on proper gas system adjustment... |

This video has some full-auto FAL shooting in it. Watch the slow-motion part and notice where the smoke is puffing out from underneath the handguard. Is this where the fireball was coming from?
Caution: Ignore the cheesy music.. If so, then it's just your gas system venting after firing. Next time you go shooting watch your brass and see how far it flies. Read the gas system tuning tutorial I posted as well. |
