Ive got a DSA 20" STG58 with a DSA picatinny top cover, What would you girls rig it out with. Ive got one with an ACOG already so not
really leaning towards this. Would a pvs14 hold up to the recoil with an EO Tech,How would you do it

Call me old-school, Mr. Impatient, but I don't think a FAL needs any of that stuff. My Israeli FAL, "The Hebrew Hammer", needs nothing except for ammunition.

I went with Vltor handguards and a Trijicon tri-power mounted at the front of the DSA rail cover. Kind of a kiss rifle, the hand guards feel great and weight next to nothing.

Hmm...rigging them out.

My two primary FAL's are a regular 21" barrel, nothing unusual on it except for an FNC forend, everything else is stock, other than the medic version BFG sling.. Then there's the 16" barrel, fully railed, Eotech and a 3xFTS scope, bfg sling on that one too.  I think I'll eventually get rid of that full front rail and go with the v-cas instead though...I don't use all the landscape, and it's miserable to hold onto. What it does do nicely, and what I wanted it for, was the ventilation.

Other than that, extra mags, mag bra, cleaning kit, and go shoot.

I run a Eotech on one of my 17.5 inch FALs and a Primary Arms M4 on the other. Both get used in 3 gun shoots and are very nice. Since Primary arms is out of their M4s I think I will try the Strikefire ,Lucid HD7 or  the Primary Arms 3X scope next. I don't need lots of rails and such just lots of batteries.

For night shooting I will mount a light but that is about it.

FAL's were killing commies for 50 years without rigging them out with a bunch of tactical crap. Iron sights were the norm but some had special scope mounts and scopes.

This is how set my FAL up plain jane and maybe and thats a big maybe but I am thinking or adding aLTR rail to the file and putting on a red dot or 3x scope. Getting harder to use the peep sights the older I get but for now this is how she will stay.

Rig it out?  Good sling, Red dot optic, quality mags, ammo and training.

I really like the look of the CASV, I just haven't decided to part with that amount of $ for one though. For me, a para kit was essential, so I now have one on my mutt build. The other thing I really like is the hogue slip over for the PG. Unlike most, I like the angle on the original PG. If I was to get a CASV I would probably add a surefire and a red dot of somesort. I'd go the extra mile and probably spend the $ on an aimpoint or other "quality" red dot for an FAL though. I guess you need to ask yourself what will your primary purpose be for this weapon. DMR? Battle rifle? etc... Then build on it from there.

Look forward to seeing pics when you get it done!

ARMS dust cover w/ cutout to remove the bolt carrier without removing the dust cover, CASV in the mail. ACOG 3.5x35. Old school 2 point sling, done. ACOG not required to sling lead.

I agree with the "Old School" line of thought regarding the FAL. Stick with irons.. Spend that extra money on ammo and range time.. Dorked out with rails, red dots, and other goodies that thing is gonna end up being a 14 lb pig that you wont want to shoot.

This.  At most beyond this I am mounting a 4"section of rail on the handguard for an X300.

An FAL should not be a bench gun, irons will serve you just fine. Spend it on ammo and training.

says who? I thoroughly enjoy testing my limits and my rifles limits on the bench.

Nice set up.  A couple of suggestions:

Have you felt the SAW style grip?  I like it a lot better than the high angle FAL grip.

I also like the X-stock from DS Arms.  It looks cool (the important part), plus the cut out does make it easy to get a good bench grip on it with the weak side hand.

Also, I put a simple 5 slot rail mount on one of the vents in the hand guard.  That allows a light or laser to go on it.

FAL's are heavy to begin with, so it's best not to load them up with a lot of stuff up to and including the Pictanny mount Pez dispenser.

Buy a lot of ammo - you're going to really enjoy it.

Yikes ! FALS are NOT supposed to be treated like ARs !!!

An Izzy LB or FNC handguard set is as tacticool as a FAL needs.

Of course, opinions are like a$$h*les ~ everybody has one.
