Put a Millett DMS 1-4 on my 16" DSA tactical carbine the other day, used loc tite on the scope rings where they go around the scope and where they meet the rail, used a level to make sure that it was nice and straight. Hit the range with a buddy and at 50yds it was a nice group (1.0"-1.5") so we went over to the 100yd range and holy shit, this thing just starts throwing rounds all over the paper. It was probably a 8" group at 100yds, now I'm a decent shooter in fact that same day I had 3 rounds stacked on top of each other (vertically not 1 ragged hole) using my 14.5" AR w/Acog so I don't think that it's me. Anyone else have this issue? I'm going to try it again on Friday but I was really dissappointed and I'm not sure if it's the ammo or the scope but I know that I put that scope on tight. Ideas? |

Tula is not known for accuracy. I have a tipical 21'' barrel and get 2'' groups from Wolf but Tula opens up more.
8'' groups are a bit extreme for 100 yards but maybe your 16'' FAL is not a precision weapon? FAL's are not usually precision accurate out of the box but there are several things that can be done to them to improve accuracy. Most FAL's with decent barrels are 2-3'' MOA and can end up 1'' MOA with some work to the bolt carrier and front end. 50 yards is never a good test because groups will always be small and then open way up at 100 yards from an inaccurate rifle. |

I have no issues with Tula ammo. 2 inch ish or less. I have a DMS scope also.
Go thru a few ammo types. Could you've hitting some grass? Or brush at 100? Pics of rifle. Range, crown and ammo. Check the overall length of the Tula against the ammo your rifle prefers. Might be a seating depth. Or bullet length issue. Test the bad ammo for outside dimension of projectile. |

*UPDATE* Went back to the range today and tried some different ammo. 50yd target using Tula I originally fired 5rds, 3 were touching and had 2 flyers, fired 2 more and they went into the same group as the other 3 so I called it good. Went out to 100yds This is my sight in target at 100yds, my first round went low center so I adjusted and that gave me the high center shot, fired 2 more times without any adjustment and that gave me the high left shot and the one touching the 10ring figured that was close enough and started my experiment. 5rds of Tula at 100yds 5rds of Winchester Q3130 7.62x51 ..and this started out as 5rds of FNM surplus (I think it's Port?) and once it actually started grouping I fired the rest of the mag and got this group So I looked up the bullet weight of the Port and it's 147 the same as the Tula and Winchester. So what gives here? Is this the kind of accuracy at 100yds that you can expect out of a 16" FAL with a 1-4x scope? ETA:I just spoke with DSA and they want me to send the rifle back, they said that 1"-2" groups is normal with a 16" FAL ![]() |

Did you have the rifle in any sort of rest when you were taking these shots?
My 21" DSA STG with irons prints 4" groups at 100 yards with surplus and 2" in groups with commercial .308. Has anyone else tried firing your rifle? Most FAL rifles I have fired, mine included, have a stiff trigger pull with a little bit of creep. If I go from shooting my AR with the two stage match trigger to the FAL it always takes me a few shots down range to adjust to the FAL's trigger again. Just a thought. I would rule out every single possibility before sending a rifle back to DSA. That place is like a black hole. |

I'm also using the same Millet with a Burris PEPR mount on my 21" G1.
I get pretty much the same accuracy/groups with rem150g ball, tula 147g, Port, homerolled pulled m-80's and 147g PRVI's, and what other crap I've fed into it. 2 to 3 MOA seems to be the modus operandi of this rifle at best. But this is for blasting and 3gun. Good luck and tell us what your summation is when you're done testing variables. |
