I just received my new DSA medium contour FN. I purchased 8 of the new Israeli magazines with it. The Styer magazine that came with the rifle seems to work fine. The problem is with the Isreal magazines. They will not feed most of the time and are hard to insert. Has anyone else had problems with magazines or the rifle failing to feed.

Go to Tapco and buy yourself a couple of used standard FN magazines or a 10 pack of new Belgian magazines.

It sounds like the Israeli mags are refinished, not NIB and that the finish is preventing the mags from seating properly (never had that problem with any of the Izzy mags I have, in any of my FALs).

But if it feeds with the Steyr mag that DSA shipped with it, it's very unlikely that the problem is the gun.

Yep it is the magazines. The Israeli magazines are powder coated. They are hard to insert into the gun and the inside of the magazine is powder coated also. The follower digs into the powder coat and hangs up. I tried a friends Styer mags and that worked fine. DSA has been very helpful and encouraged me to return the Israeli magazines in exchange for Styer mags. This gun had to have about 200 rounds thru it and a good cleaning and lube job before it began to function without problems. I guess it just had to break in. This DSA is a kick in the ass to shoot. I think I am going to be selling my M1a soon!!!

Badboy,  What type of M1A are you thinking of selling?  I have shot the Fal on several occasions and I still prefer the M1A.
