I ordered a extreme duty scope mount in September, I then got a back order email so I left it for a couple of weeks then called to see what their projected shipping date would be well after 25 minutes on hold and having to call back I'm told their sorry but they will be shipping in three weeks.

Well three weeks pass and I call back now they tell me they will receive them ( not me note) in January 2011 why didn't they tell me that when I called  before instead of making up dates and all this time their website shows the have the item in stock.

Is this normal customer service for DSA or did I just get lucky

I've been waiting on a bipod removal socket for a while now...

SOP with DSA is to call ahead and make sure an item is in stock before ordering.............

Well I'm a little happier I sent an email and they replied within a couple of hours now that doesn't happen very often so they may not have the answer I want but they do have a good customer response.

I believe their focus is mostly on manufacturing complete firearms and everything else is just a side job.   I would only buy from them if they say it is in stock today.

FWIW, I bought a para conversion kit from them. Before ordering they told me it would be backordered for 4 weeks, but it shipped about 8 days after ordering.

For what it's worth I'm happy they replied to my email (on the same day) which would be a lesson for some of the other companies out there!

They are trying to sort out my problem so I can't ask much more than that.

Back "in the day", DSA had great service. Now, not so much.

I've purchased a few big-ticket items from them in the past, and I've always had to wait 4 or 5 times longer than promised.  The products are USUALLY of good quality, but I still have issues with the inability of DSA to be truthful about the projected availability of its products.

I made one from a huge common blade screwdriver. I just cut a portion from the middle so that strattles the bolt yet rests in the castle nut grooves. Cheap and fast. It works well.

I used an old pair of needle nose pliers.

Ok credit where credit is due I contacted DSA with a problem they replied and kept in touch (now that is rare in the firearms world) and now UPS says I'll have my mount on the 18th.

Well done DSA for coming up with a solution for me thanks

I don't recall all the twists and turns of my trying to order an instock type 1 upper, but it was long, convoluted, and discouraging.  I was - let's not mince words - lied to regarding shipping, delivery times, and stock availability.  The sales department was clueless about falfiles group buy pricing.

I wanted to finish that rifle with certain DSA made parts, but I will not deal with that company again.

Ordered a set of Trijicon sights for my FAL and took over three months to deliver (if memory serves, it was more like 5-6).

On the other hand, ordered some other spare parts and got 'em in a week.

Inconsistant.  But I still shop with them.

I recently purchased some parts from DSA (furniture set and scope mount) and after getting them I had some fit issues so I called their customer service. After some slight modifications and trouble shooting my problems the gentleman told me to return it and he would ship out a replacements asap. That was even after I scratched up some paint and removed some plastic to try and get them to work.

I was amazed by how cool he was to deal with. A+ all the way.

Cool. Maybe there have been some changes there. I hope so. I kinda miss doing business with DSA.
