I just bought a DSA rail system for my STG58, but realized installation is a bit more permanent than I thought. It hadn't occurred to me that I would need to use some tin snips to remove the handguard retainer. This would effectively make the rail the only option for handguards in the future, with no switching back and forth if I ever want to.
If I cut this ring off, is there any way I can get regular handguards back on in the future? |

I've been able to remove the gas block before on several of my rifles.
That will allow you to replace the handguard ring without seperating the barrel from the receiver. Your experience may vary. Some gas blocks are on very tight and some folks are wouldn't dream of even doing it. |
