I picked up a POS FAL about a year ago now from here (thanks for that resq944). It had all sorts of problems as soon as I got it to the range. Unfortunately that was 2 months after I bought it, so I couldn't go back and demand my money back. I was told it was a Century build which should have been my first clue. What I was not told is that it was on a Hesse reciever, so I could never sell it with out not fully disclosing what it is, as the person I got it from did to me. Most of the issues are fixed now, but the tigger issue. For some reason when I fire it, the next round loads into the chamber, but the hammer is not re-set. What parts do I need to replace, and who sells them?

Both of mine have suffered from the same problem. The cause in both cases were the second-rate 922r compliance parts that were installed; specifically the H/T/S. Both issues were resolved (as far as I can tell) by judiciously deepening the hammer's sear notch with a file. Also, replacing the weak sear plunger spring with one of a proper strength (domestic H/T/S manufacturers sometimes include light duty springs in their parts kits in an ill-advised attempt to lighten the trigger pull). Since I have done that, you can hear the sear go SNAP! when it resets, rather than an anemic click. Worked for me. YMMV. |

Quoted:
The most common reason for this malfunction is having the safety selector in the A position. P.S. It is a common mistake for those new to F A Ls to make. One of the guys I was shooting with last time asked about that. It went though it again, and it was still doing it. The rifle had gas issues when I got it, It would load a second round, and often wouldn't eject the empty casing. I had my smith look it over, and he said he got the gas working right. I was thinking it may just need a minor gas adjustment, but after what happened the first time I shot it, I was afraid to touch the gas again. The guess from the guy I was with is that I should replace the hammer, hammer spring, and maybe the trigger. Is this a common issue with these? |

Either DSA
or Falcon Arms for the HTS. Other supplier links here:http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=6&f=7&t=318032&light= |

Quoted: By "these", I assume you mean F A Ls in general. The answer is only with some U S made hammers and sears. As the Gunny suggested, it is probably a poor engagement between the hammer and sear. Another common mistake is to swap the trigger reset spring and the sear spring in an attempt to make the trigger pull smoother. Since your rifle came to you used, the previous owner may have done this. The trigger reset spring will be the more robust of the two. When seen side by side, the more robust one will be obvious. Also, the trigger reset spring must go on the trigger plunger with the little end first. Quoted: The most common reason for this malfunction is having the safety selector in the A position. P.S. I never use U S made hammers or sears. U S made triggers are usually trouble free though. |

I haven't had it to the ranger yet, but I'm hoping to next week. |
