A couple of weeks ago I purchased a STG58 version of the FN FAL.

Today, I was finally able to get out to the range and test it.

It shot great, except the extractor would not ectract the round when the bolt cycled.  The bolt would go back and strip a round from the magazine and then I would have a double feed.  I would then lock the bolt to the rear and then push the charging handle forward and then pull it back and it  eject the round.  I tried all the different gas settings and it continued to do this.

I called DSA and they said send it back and they would work on it.

On the up side, that rifle is accurate !

I would appreciate any input more seasoned FAL owners could give me.

Since you did not mention damaged brass, my first guess would be a weak extractor spring or an extractor groove that was improperly cut in the barrel. Without actually examining the rifle, it is impossible for me to diagnose the problems.

I forgot to mention the brass.  I examined the brass.  There was no damage to the brass.

Thank you very much for your reply.  I truly appreciate it.

Most likely it is the extractor claw. I have one that was machined improperly on the inside, so that it wouldn't hang onto the brass.
