I have a DSA SA58 16" carbine. It runs very well with only one issue. It occasionally will pull the edge off the case and leave it partially extracted. This happens once about every 30-50 rds. I have only shot WWB and South African surplus. I don't know if the brass is just soft or maybe I should adjust the gas setting?

Which length gas system are you running?

Standard length or carbine length?

The long gas system on a 16" gun is not always the best recipe for joy.

I think about all you can do is polish the chamber, and keep the chamber as clean as possible.

I wonder whether a handload with a faster powder, and a heavier bullet might give a little more consistent port pressure.

Won't hurt to make gas adjustments either.
Would be ideal if that's all it takes.

So do you think less gas? I will try to give the chamber a good scrub also.

For sure try less gas.

Open the gas regulator all the way.

Load a mag with one round and fire.

The bolt carrier may not lock open on empty mag due to not enough gas pressure.

Close the gas regulator one click and repeat until bolt carrier locks open on empty mag.

Then close gas regulator one to two more clicks to ensure reliable feeding.

If this does not fix it then the recoil springs could be weak.

Good luck,
