Considering trading a rifle I have for a Fal
It's an STG parts kit on an Imbel receiver I'd like to know: Are the STG Barrels Chrome Lined ? Is the Bipod Removable ? ( I remember reading somewhere that they were ) Thanks |
| StG barrels are not chrome lined, they are hammer forged though and are generally recognized as being among the most accurate FAL barrels. The bipod is removable, although many are on very tight and are quite difficult to loosen the bolts. I've seen appropriately sized sockets modified to fit the nuts that hold the bipod together. |
| Usually the chambers are chrome lined, and the barrel proper is not. Some early STG's were not chromed at all. Removing the bipod will very possibly reduce accuracy. The bipod (folded), and the long grenade launcher/flash hider help reduce barrel vibration. What you are looking at is a very good combination, one of the best, so shoot it as is on paper, then after making a benchmark, try removing the bipod, etc. |

(Hope she was hot) Typically, anything that can rattle, won't rattle typically. Its a hit or miss on matching harmonics. I've had 10 years reloading experience and 10 years with a BOSS equiped rifle to support my statement. I've got am M1A...stock with no unitizing, bedding, acuracy enhancements, etc. Shoots sub MOA with my handloads. Other M1As not the case. |
