I'm looking to branch out and get an FAL.  I looked at a DSA SA58 today.  Looked good except the bolt hold open latch is stuck.  I could push it in and pull it out with a little force but an empty mag will not set it.  Is this a common problem?  What's the fix?  How does it come apart to clean/look for damage.  Rifle is very clean, comes with 6 mags for $1200.  Good/bad price?

That's a good price for a DSA.

As for the hold open, the pin that engages the magazine follower could be too short. New assemblies are cheap, so don't let that issue hold you back. To remove it, remove the screw right above the hold open tab. This will allow removal of the hold open and magazine catch. The problem could just as likely be a bad follower, so check that first.

Thanks for the reply.   The BHO is physically sticking.  I could force it up and it would stay up and it needed to be forced back down.  I did a little searching on the net and it looks like it is an easy fix though.  I'll post up pics if I get it.

Shouldn't be that hard of a fix.  Remove the screw on the left hand side and pop it out. Clean the hole and bolt-hold open (BHO) and try moving it with the spring out. If it's binding, look for shiny spot on BHO and correct w/ file or sandpaper. Is it a used rifle? Mine stuck at one point and the cause was some brass shavings wedged in there.
