Can anyone help me locate a good source for FAL receivers? I am new to the FAL, and want to get started with my first build. What would you recommend as far as parts and everything for it?

FALs are different from AR15s in that they are more complicated to assemble and it is far cheaper to buy a complete rifle.

If you just have a strong desire to build it yourself, DSA is the best receiver on the market and there have been a few for sale on gunbroker recently.

You could also look for an Imbel receiver but they have not been imported for a while so they are a bit scarce.

If you want a cheaper option Enterprise has a decent reputation but not as good as the other two.

After that you need to scrounge up a FAL kit ($300-$500) and 922 compliance parts (~$100) then you have to either buy the tools, have a friend with the tools, or pay someone to assemble the parts.

Not the easy, cheap, or best route but good luck if you do want to learn how to build one yourself.

I just finished a build and it is cheaper to buy one than build one. Here is a break down

Kit 250 - 600.00........partical matching STG58 kit on FALfiles now 450.00
Refinish 250.00
reciever 400.00.......Century the worst on FALfiles now 300.00
transfer fee 40.00
US compliance parts 100.00
Rec wrench 60.00
Barrel vise 65.00
Headspace gagues 42.00
Headspace pins 35.00
Locking shoulder 30.00

Rough total 1372.00

Plus several shipping charges.

Go to DSA, Gunbroker, FAL Files Market Place, or AR15 EE, and buy one.
