Need a tutorial on how to strip the lower trigger group for Bill Springfield trigger job. I know how to field strip the FAL, but have not gone further than that.

Place flat screw driver ( or other prying instrument) under the hammer spring tube and pry upward. (Keep thumb pressure on the spring/tube so that it doesn't slam into the recoil plate.)
Rotate the safety selector counter clock wise until it is pointed straight up. Remove the safety selector by pulling it out. You may have to wiggle it a bit. Rotate the locking plate counter clock wise until it it pointed at the 10 o'clock position. Pull upward on the plate to remove it. Press on the hammer pin with your thumb until the head sticks out far enough to grab it. Then pull it out. Remove hammer. Using a flat heads screw driver, unscrew the pistol grip retaining nut. Remove pistol grip and trigger guard. Pull the trigger to the rearmost position. With a pair of needle nose pliers, grasp the trigger plunger and spring. Remove the spring plunger assembly. Press the trigger pin with your thumb until the head sticks out enough to grab it. Then pull it out. Keep a thumb or finger pressure on the sear or it will get launched into the twilight zone. Remove trigger and sear. |
