I ordered the 620A regular heavy duty FAL mount form DSA. Will I need any spare screws or spare locking plates? Also, is this mount better than the one from gunpartsguy? All info appreciated! |
that's one of the appealing features of the SAW grip with the trapdoor--I keep my allen wrench, gas tube wrench, a dope sheet and a pair of earplugs in mine |
It's not going to move at all unless the screws loosen up, which is why we're all recommending blue loctite. It's a pretty solid mount when it's installed correctly. The problem (my opinion) is that if you ever want to remove it--for a good scrubbing or whatever--you lose your zero. The DSA scope mount is the best way to use an optic on the FAL platform (again, my opinion) but it does make regular maintenance a bit more difficult. eta: this problem can be easily remedied by a can of carb cleaner and a toothbrush, so don't think of it as a deal breaker I'd say it's worth the effort/rezeroing if you want to use an optic, but I've ditched my magnified scopes for this platform and I stick with irons or occasionally an Aimpoint. (MY FAL simply isn't accurate enough to justify the expense or weight of a nice scope--but that doesn't mean your's or somebody else's isn't) |
