[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Double feeds

I'm new to the FAL scene. A friend of mine has an FAL he's going to sell, and I'm thinking about buying it.

The only problem is it double feeds quite frequently. He's tried different mags, and gets double feeds with all of them. What are some general things to check when getting DFs like this?

I'll try and get some pics and more specifics.

I bought a used DSA a few years ago. It would double feed about 3x/100 rounds fired. I replaced the extractor and recoil spring, and the problems disappeared. I think I spent about $25 including shipping.

Also, check the gas setting.

Maybe the action is getting slammed into the back of the receiver.
