I stumbled across an excellent deal on a new in box, STG 58, and I could not pass it up. I shot it for the first time today and I think I may have found a new rifle to collect. It shot great, I had 2" groups at 75 yards open sights, which I think is great for me and the rifle, I am not the best shot.... I am now thinking of an optic for the rifle......knowing the FAL does not have the best reputation for accuracy, I do not need a high power scope, I am thinking of an ACOG, EOTech or maybe the IOR CQ 3X scope.....any sugestions? Also who do I send the upper to for installing a quad rail? And possibely changing the flash hider? Thanks, 77Bronc |

There are a couple of railed top covers available, DSA markets one and the other is IIRC, the A.R.M.S. Not sure where to get one, I use something different (not availabe anymore). Check over on the FalFiles www.falfiles.com/forums/ for all your questions. There is no need to send out the rifle to add the railed top cover, it's pretty easy. Also, the flash hider/grenade launcher combonatin device is easy to replace. Just remember, that the metric FALs (STGs included) have a left hand thread on the barrel. Also remember the FAL is a battle rifle and it not the most accurate in the world. A scope will probably only let you see the target better. Someone will chime in shortly and tell you how accurate their rifle is, bottom line, the FAL is still a battle rifle. Great for what is was designed for - knocking down man sized targets out to 600 yards. |
