Guns with very long stocks really bother me. On my AR I keep the stock all the way in or at the first notch. On my Benelli M3 I need to cut about an inch and a half off of it. The 14.5" LOP of the FAL would be uncomfortable for me. I have seen no short LOP stocks or any information about shortening the stock. I am not familiar with the internals of the stock. What is in there? Are the fiberglass stocks hollow and make it a pain to cut? Would a wood stock be easy to cut and fit a new recoil pad to? any of you ever shorten a stock? have pics? thanks |

mikko, Because the recoil spring runs through the stock on a standard FAL, I don't know how much you could shorten the stock, but probably not much. Your best bet would more than likely be to get a Para FAL and an Ace adapter so that you could mount a collapsible AR stock. David |

The recoil spring tube limits how much you can shorten the stock but you can take an inch or so off. I cut my stock shorter and had the recoil pad ground down (by a gunsmith, didn't have a belt sander) to the screw. Ended up with a stock that was at least inch shorter. Get an extra stock from DSA and do some work on it. I discovered with the harder recoil of the .308 you don't want the stock too short, especially with the standard FAL rear sight. I have scratched my shooting glasses a couple of times already. |
I hate the long stock too.... Can you post a Pic? |
