I am looking for a source of 'short' FAL fixed stocks. I don't want to convert to a PARA but need an FAL stock with the shorter LOP. I do not want L1A1/English furniture. Anyone know of a source...or a how to ?

Not what you want to hear.  Switch to Para.  You can only get about 1/4 to 1/2 inch shorter LOP with the fixed stock.  I swapped mine to a CTR stock since I don't really care for the para stock.  I have to have a quickly adjustable stock.

IIRC Israeli light barrel wooden buttstocks tend to be the shortest available.

I think Gunthings.com should have them in stock. Sarco might as well. The Heavy Barrel stocks take a different type of buttplate assembly so watch out for that if you end up going down that path.

How much of an LOP reduction are you looking for?  Izzy might be the quickest cheapest way to lose up to an inch.  If you're looking for more than that, remember that trimming the PARA stocks involve some work (and expense), as well.

The BEST option (for me) was the AR stock conversion.  Either with DSA's knuckle or Kaiser's lower.  I called Kaiser.  It's shorter overal since I didn't need a folder.

I shortened my fixed stock.

The stock is longer than the recoil spring tube so I took as much as I could off at the front; redid the inlet and redrilled the screw hole.  Then I took the buttpad to a local gunsmith and had him grind it down till it was flush with the recoil tube screw .  Altogether I got the fixed stock around an inch shorter with no modifications to the receiver.  I have an unmodified stock and buttpad if I want to convert back it to standard length.

While you might want it shorter than that, I found that with the stronger .308 recoil impulse you don't want it too short.

Pics with both stocks for comparison?  Please.
