So I have held several FALs, but none ever had FFHG.  Can someone educate me on how they attach, etc?  Pictures would be great!

Thanks!

No-one?  Not even a link to FAL Files, a TM or similar?  Or a picture of someones FAL with these installed?

From what I understand there are two versions of FF HG for the FAL.

1) DSA, brand x(begins w/e. Clamp piece goes around rear of barrel. Tube attaches w/longitudinal bolts from the front to the clamp block.

2) Vandenberg type. Barrel is threaded in front of receiver. Block threads onto rear of barrel. Float tube is screwed to block.

Free float hg's... should do it for you.  Hg's are hard to attach correctly to an fal without a direct connection to the barrel.  Link shows a very clean method of getting it done.  Barrel thread is 1" x 16tpi.  That sounds like Ed Vandenberg's method, but I haven't seen one in person.

The pictures WEG posted are of Ed's first gen design.

So, how does the DSA free float attach?

Gee george, read the whole post before you ask questions.

PERFECT!  Thank you.  Guess I could have gone down to see Ed, but I hate driving 1.5 hours just to get to the other side of town ... Ed did an awesome job on my 1911 IPSC rig.
