I have recently come into possession of a matching Imbel FAL kit. After I get the politically correct parts together, I want to get it professionally assembled and refinished (this isn't something I feel comfortable or knowledgeable enough about to do myself). Anyhow, a google search and a peek at the FALfiles list gave me several FAL gunsmiths, but I would like to know if there is one or more in specific that are recommended more than others. Rich Saunders of Century Gun Works in Nevada built my carbine and it's great FAL. I bought used and called to ask him about the rifle prior to finalizing the purchase after seeing his mark and date on the rifle. He went out of his way to be helpful and educate a newbie. http://www.cgwgun.com/ |

+1 Mark Graham at ARS built 3 Imbels for me and I am very happy with them. He's also done alot of other work for me that was equally good. Very fair and honest guy. |

Call up a few of the ones that have been listed and tell them what your looking to have done. It's always good to establish a solid relationship with a quality 'smith. Your wallet will thank you (o.k. that's a lie). I talked with one of the listed builders a number of years back and we didn't exactly hit it off so I went with Rich@CGW. His customer service and work is second to none. |
+2 on Randy. Not only is he good, he's fast too. Mailed out an upper to have the barrel cut, crowned, and rethreaded on a Monday. Had it back on Friday of the same week. David |
