Hello all, I just picked up the above mentioned rifle, as i was at my local 'supplier' inquiring when my SIG556 would be in...(3 more weeks...sigh) As I was standing there listening to him on the phone with SIG, a big, beautiful rifle caught my attention. I asked one of the clerks to show it to me and it was love at first sight picture. So, I dropped a G on it and brought it home. Now, I figure I better do some damn research and I came here...as everyone was very helpful with my AR on the boards... So, to get to the point, I appologize, I am confused as to the inch/metric discussion and how to tell which style my weapon is made in. As well, I read one of the posts that said the SA58 is the .308 version vs. the STG58 which was said to be 7.62. The documentation on my weapon reads: "STG-58 .308W" As well, I know I'm asking alot here, I was panning through all the marketing bull $hit that was stuffed in the case with said rifle and saw the folding para stock...I went online and on DSA's website it shows it, but when you click the link to order, it shows something totally different...what gives? Anyone got a good source for the para stock and those who have it, hows the funtionality? Thanks All, I appreciate any and all input, Semper Fi, Bill |

That is exacly it! Do you have to order the entire rifle to get the para stock? The links on that page are for ordering the entire rifle, I was thinking of removing the basic stock and replacing it...maybe I should have researched a little more before giving in to my instant gratification whim... Oh well, Bill |

Ok, with the DSA kit you will be getting three US compliance parts that you don't have with your Stg58. If you want to be able to switch back and forth between the para and standard you could round up all of the internals, including Austrian (or any other import) hammer, trigger and sear and a US pistol grip and remain legal for parts count. Your Stg uses DSA's US HTS and US pistol grip, plus other parts for compliance. If you just want to go para the parts swap isn't too difficult. The most challenging part is removing the buttstock. If you are not careful the spring in there can attack you. Also if you decide to go back and forth, get the no-nose, no stand-off top cover, or the para scope mount top cover. |

Just buy the special tool to remove the recoil spring. It will save you a lot of frustration and possibly one of your eyes. TOOL This will also come in handy when removing the grip. |

Falcon Arms makes a para kit also (as does DSA). http://www.falconarms.com/xcartNEW/home.php Lower receiver with stock, para-bolt carrier and top cover. You can use your own lower internals. As yours is a non-para upper, you will either have to get it cut or get a top cover that has no nose. (Go to the Falfiles and do a serch for para conversions) I currently have 3 long FALs (2 SA and 1 Imbel) and 2 paras, both assembled from spare parts. Not everyone likes the feel of the folding stock. Hard to get a good cheek weld. I feel its a little shorter then I like, but can deal with it. Welcome to the addiction. |
So the DSA STG58s are 308 WIN chambers? I thought the chamber was the defining aspect of the STG and SA? |
Devil dude...what flash hider is on that FAL? Did it come with the gun from DSA? I want a FAL exactly like yours. Gargoyle 95-00 |
