Can a moron install one of these or am I going to have to go to a smith?

I've installed 2....and I've been called a moron.

Falfiles.com has detailed instructions in their FAQs

It's a pretty simple operation really.  You just need the instructions off the net for it.  Very nice mod for the FAL.  My DSA's trigger was beyond aweful.  This has brought it down to something managable.

I don't remember where it was on the internet that I found the instructions
for removing/replacing the trigger group but it's out there somewhere.

The instructions mention the need for a blind pin and a punch to remove and re-install
the hammer etc. I found that the punch was really not needed but the blind pin was helpful.

My son and I instaled the TPR springs in about 20 minutes, it was my first time to work on any trigger parts and it was very easy.

Prior to re-assy, I very lightly stoned (by hand) the engagement surface of the sear to even up the wear on the parkerizing where it was kind of rough. Make sure you put a tiny dab of moly grease on all the engagement surfaces when you put it all back together, that will help make it really slick.

I had a DSA trigger in my Imbel FAL and it was pretty horrible. Since I've intalled the TPR springs the trigger on my FAL is very, very nice. Not quite up to "match rifle" standards but better than most hunting rifles I've shot. I'd estimate it breaks at 4-5 lbs.

The Falcon Arms TPR was the best $20 bucks I've every spent on a gun part.

Have fun,

I purchased a complete trigger kit from First Son Enterprises for $80 plus shipping.  I followed disassembly procedures from a fal how to book I picked up at a local show.  Best investment I've made in getting my FAL trigger down to a match grade trigger pull.

Just be careful because the FAL uses two springs in the trigger group and it's easy to drop one or both during reassembly. Other than that it's a drop in swap.
