Here is the front grip mount I made

The front hand guards are sandwiched between the plate and the top of the grip.
The top plate for this one is just a little too thick and rubs the bottom of the barrel.
I made a different one with a thinner plate but I used a screw that was too short, so it need to be done again.
One more thing I need to do is make a pin to keep the grip from twisting.

That looks interesting, I've never seen that done before. How does it feel, ergonomically?
You look like you've got an inventive streak in you!

I probably can't even have that on my neutered Kalifornia FAL, speaking of which, got any ideas for making the FAL pistol gripless so I could have detachable mags?
Some have thought of making a trigger linkage to move the trigger farther back on the stock so you could hold it like an M1A, but then how do you cover that abortion up? Some kind of sheetmetal box?

I really need to move...
